Stand Strong Workshop: Understanding Bone Health and exercise
“Stand Strong” is a short course designed to help improve osteoporosis awareness and bone health for Pilates and movement instructors.
This workshop focuses on the latest research in osteoporosis, highlighting effective exercise protocols to help clients enhance their bone and joint health and how we as Pilates professionals can tailor programs to maximise positive client outcomes.
The goals of this workshop are to:
- Understand osteoporosis statistics and risk factors affecting client health.
- Learn the principles of bone osteogenesis and the importance of mechanical loading.
- Discover updated exercise guidelines, emphasizing weight-bearing and resistance training tailored for individuals with osteopenia or osteoporosis.
- Gain strategies to adapt Pilates exercises that improve strength and function aimed at improving balance and falls prevention outcomes while fostering a supportive environment.
- Apply practical applications both within a mat work class and the Pilates apparatus.
- Understand specific clients’ needs and goals and programme appropriately.
Extended Learning: Participants will also receive access to a pre-recorded PAA workshop from August 2024, offering additional insights into best practices.
